As we see Joseph providing for Mary and Jesus and protecting them from all harm and danger, we catch a glimpse of how much God loves us and keeps us from sin and every evil.
1. Joseph the Provider
a. Supplying their temporal necessities
b. The Body of Christ richly supplied in Word and Sacrament
2. Joseph the Protector
a. From murderous tyrants and treacherous travels
b. From false doctrine, despair, and other great shame and vice
3. See how much God doth love thee!
a. Gives us a family, a life with purpose, energy, and direction
b. Keeps us from sin and every evil, holy angels attending
