Seventh Sunday After Epiphany 2022

Moved by the Holy Spirit, followers of Jesus discover what we cannot do by ourselves – loving, blessing and giving to our enemies — we experience in the freedom that belongs to the children of God.

1. The freedom of loving as we have been loved
a. While we were still His enemies, God loved us
b. Doing good reflects the heart of God

2. The freedom of doing the unexpected
a. Breaking the power of a curse with a blessing
b. Followers of Jesus learn the power of His prayer

3. The freedom of living generously without thought of return
a. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above
b. Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.
