His Good and Gracious Gifts

The Gospel lesson of Matthew 14 tells a familiar story—you may know it as “the feeding of the 5,000” or “the loaves and the fishes.” In this message, Pastor Daniel Gray has us all thinking a little more deeply about the meaning of this account. We see Christ’s need for rest, His compassion for the people who follow Him, his patience with His disciples. . .  “They do not need to go away, give them something to eat.” Five loaves and two fish? It’s not enough! Where the disciples see lack, Jesus sees abundance. Praise to the Father for the plenty the 5,000 received—and praise and thanksgiving for His presence in our lives today. That which seems inadequate in our hands, turns to abundance in Jesus’ hand.
