Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost

As we travel through terrifying tumults of the last days, Jesus promises many

occasions to give our testimony with His Word and Spirit strengthening us to endure all

things.

1. Terrifying tumults provide an occasion for testimony

a. Be no led astray nor terrified; God is not taken by surprise

b. I will speak of Your testimonies before kings and not be ashamed

2. God gives powerful blessings that none can withstand or contradict

a. Settle it in your minds not to meditate beforehand

b. Testimony comes from God-given mouth and wisdom

3. Word and Spirit-filed endurance enable our testimony

a. Remember the seven Maccabean brothers

b. Looking unto Jesus who endured the cross, despising the shame
