Fifth Sunday in Lent 2022

In sending His own dear Son, God not only fulfills His plan of salvation, but offers deliverance to those who receive Him and damnation to those who reject His undeserved kindness.

1. Sending the Son who is so dear to Him completes God’s plan
a. Jesus is the stone rejected by the builders
b. Jesus becomes the cornerstone

2. To those who receive His dear Son, God offers deliverance
a. We fall on the stone/Jesus and are broken as we turn to God and change the way . we think and act.
b. Now we are raised as living stones in the God’s temple

3. To those who reject His dear Son, God promises damnation
a. The Message: “he’ll be smashed to smithereens!”
b. They feared the people, they sent spies to catch Him
