Heroes and champions, and victory. In the Old Testament, a young shepherd David steps up to the challenge of battle with Goliath, triumphing despite overwhelming odds. In the Gospel lesson, David's king and David's Lord, Jesus, is challenged by Satan, but emerges the victor. He is our Savior, our Lord, our champion. Always faithful, always loving, always giving.
